Adamawa state Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has revealed his administration’s plan to construct a super highway in the state this year.
This Governor made this known in an interview with news men shortly after he inspected the one thousand housing estates project at Malkohi, Yola south local government area of the state.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri said the super highway will be constructed from the FGGC yola, linking jimeta and yola town.
“ this year we are going to construct a super highway from FGGC to Yola to Jimeta which will empty the city from the eastern flank”
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri expressed satisfaction over the progress and quality of work so far done, saying the essence of providing the houses is that it is affordable and will reduce cost of renting houses for civil servants and the people of the state.
“ this has been our dream even though it is coming late, our intention to have handed over this houses to the owners as at last year but because of the kind of quality of infrastructure that we really wanted to deploy within the estate , it has caused a little delay but that is never too late ”
The governor said the housing project will be completed by the end of 2023 and handed over to the civil servants and people of the state, as contractors handling the roads, water and electrification projects were already mobilized to ensure the completion of the projects so that civil servants in the state will have a home to call their own before retirement as well as help in developing the state.
The governor said, the 1000 housing units is the first phase of the 2000 housing units intended to be provided by his administration for civil servants and people of the state.
According to Fintiri, the government is working along with the interest of the civil servants to provide additional one thousand houses, saying even if it will not be occupied by them alone, some good citizens can as well benefit from the project.
The governor was conducted round the site by some engineers and government officials from the ministry of works and energy.
