Adamawa State Gov interacts with media executives to fine- tune on peace projects

Adamawa state Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has commended media stations in the state for their role in addressing conflict -related issues through information decimination.

 

The governor made this known during a Meeting with media executives in the state at the government house yola.

 

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintir who was represented by the secretary to the state government, Barrister Auwal Tukur at the meeting said the essence of the meeting was to discuss the recent happenings in the state where some people try to overrun the state.

 

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri said as partners in progress, the essence of the meeting was to interact with the media executives on how to reduce the potential of such happenings in the future.

 

Governor Fintiri noted that the role of the media in development of the society cannot be overemphasized because in any sane democratic society, the media is the anchor on how information is passed on to the people and how people approach issues.

 

The governor drew their attention on the importance of regulating utterances that might provoke the pubic, emphasizing that the period of campaigns is over, now is the time for governance and utterances that may lead to chaos would not be tolerated.

 

According to the governor, the country is at cross-roads hence the need for regulating utterances that goes on air.

 

The governor added that government will continue to interact with media executives from time to time in order to establish a partnership of common purpose that can deepen democracy in the state.

 

Speaking on behalf of the media executives the General Manager, Gotel communications limited who is also the chairman, Adamawa Broadcast Managers’ Forum, Muhammad El-yakub thanked the governor for the meeting.

 

El-yakub said as a forum for broadcast managers in the state, the media executives have been looking for an engagement between the government and the media so that they can discuss issues that are essential to the development of the state as well as the media houses in the state.

 

While describing Adamawa state as one of the peaceful state in the country, El-yakub assured the governor that, media houses in the state will do all possible in supporting government policies that would help in bringing sanity in the state.
