Dangote group has pledged its commitment to the development of education in Nigeria.
This was made known by the management of Dangote sugar Refinery Numan, during a quiz competition organized by Dangote group which took place at Dangote Sugar refineries high school premises.
A senior official of the company, Engineer Ibrahim Doka who spoke on behalf of the management of Dangote sugar refineries Numan said the quiz competition was born out of the company’s initiative to promote educational activities in its host communities.
Ibrahim Doka said for any society to develop, education must be be prioritized, hence the need for the quiz competition which is one of its corporate social responsibilities and to promote educational activities for the benefit of the people .
He called on the participating schools to put in their best and utilize the opportunities given to them in order to improve themselves educationally.
In her speech, the principal, Dangote Sugar Refineries high school, Mrs. Furode Amos said the quiz competition was an initiative by the Dangote Group of companies in order to promote education, foster unity amongst the people and to help in sustaining peace and development in the society.
She equally encouraged the participants to put in their best as she wished them all the best.
Also, the Government and Community relations manager of the company, Mr. Andrew Daniel said Dangote group is interested in improving the lives of the members of its host communities through education which is one of the key areas it must capitalized on.
As he welcomed all the participants and royal fathers present, he urged them to always support the Dangote sugar refinery in implementing programs that will help in the development of their communities, the state and the Nation at large.
Speaking on behalf of traditional leaders at the event, the district head of mbula chief Timawus (please get the second name) thanked the Dangote Sugar Refineries for the efforts it has been making towards improving the lives of the people of its host communities.
He appreciated the company for it effort in organizing the quiz and also called for more meaningful programs that will benefit the people.
Government secondary school Numan emerged winner of the 2023 quiz competition, while GDSS Shelleng came second and GDSS Lamurde came third.
Secondary schools that participated in the 2023 edition of the quiz competition were drawn from the five local government areas of Numan, Demsa, Lamurde, Guyuk and shelleng local government areas, including the Dangote Sugar Refineries High School.
