Adamawa state government inaugurates Palliative Coordination and Distribution Committee

Adamawa state Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has charged the state palliative coordination and distribution committee to carry out their duty without any sentiment.

 

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri gave the charge on Wednesday during the swearing in ceremony of the twenty two man state palliative coordination and distribution committee held at the conference hall government house Yola.

 

Governor Fintiri who was represented by the deputy governor of the state, Professor Kaletapwa George Farauta at the inauguration said the people of Adamawa state are experiencing hardship as a result of fuel subsidy removal by the federal government, which has necessitated the state government resolve to implement some measures that will help in cushioning the effects, hence the need for a committee that will carry out the wish of the state government without any sentiment.

 

The committee is saddled with the responsibilities of working out necessary modalities for the movement of both food and non-food items from the source to the distribution points, monitor and liaise with relevant community stakeholders or community agents to ensure equitable distribution of the palliatives to the intended beneficiaries across the 21 local government of Adamawa state.

 

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri Added that all groups and persons considered useful should be coopted in to ensure the success of the distribution exercise.

 

Responding on behalf of the committee members, the chairman of the palliative coordination and distribution committee, who doubles as the secretary to the state government, Auwal Tukur thanked God and the governor of the state for finding them worthy of the assignment.

 

Auwal tukur said the committee members comprised of people with diverse backgrounds and integrity who are willing to work together to ensure equity in the distribution of the palliative.

 

The palliative committee comprised of the Secretary to the State Government as the Chairman with Amna Shelleng, Hama Bachama, 2 Members of National Assembly from Adamawa State, one Senator, one House of Representative member, two members from Adamawa House of Assembly, Commissioner of Rehabilitation, Reconstruction and Reconciliation, Commissioner for Agriculture, Head of Service Adamawa State, Algon Chairman, Commissioner of Police Adamawa State, Army Brigade Commander and Air Force base Commander as members.

 

Others are Director DSS Adamawa State, Commandant Civil Defence Adamawa State, CAN, Moslem Council, NUJ, NLC, TUC, National Council for Women Society and National Youth Council of Nigeria, while ADSEMA will serve as the Secretariat.
