SUBSIDY REMOVAL: Adamawa state gov’t to purchase buses as a measure to address transportation challenges

Adamawa state government has approved the procurement of ten 58 seater luxurious buses as a palliative measure to address transport challenges for the residents of the state.

 

This was part of the resolution of the Adamawa state executive council meeting held on the 22nd of August 2023 and presided by the deputy governor of the state, Professor Kaletapwa George Farauta.

 

Briefing newsmen after the council meeting, the commissioner for information, Neido Geoffrey  Kofulto said the state government will procure ten 58 seater luxurious buses from Innosun Vehicle manufacturers at the cost of one billion, sixty million naira.

 

The commissioner said the procurement of the buses will help in addressing transport challenges experienced by the state resident as a result of the subsidy removal.

 

According to her, transport fare of the buses will be at a subsidize prices for the benefit of the people in the state.

 

The council also approved the purchase of grains to be sold to the state indigenes at a subsidize rate.

 

The government will purchase the grains from the farmers in the state and sell it back to the people at a subsidize rate.

 

The state government has urged the people of the state to remain patient and live in peace with one other as the state government is working to see that palliatives are provided to cushion the hardship, with a call on the people to brace up for the dry season farming as the season will soon set in.

 

The state government used the opportunity to call on the people living on water ways to move to higher grounds in order to avoid flooding or any emergency situation that cannot be easily contained.
