Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, says human capital development is one of the cardinal points of the eight point agenda of his administration aimed at empowering women and youth.
The governor made this known at the opening ceremony of a two week Home Technology Entrepreneurship Skills and Mindset Development Training on Liquid wash, Air Freshener, Vaseline Making and Leather Crafting.
Represented by the Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, said the One Hundred and Five women and youth drawn across the twenty one local government areas of the state will be trained to be innovators and creators that will be given the opportunity to acquire skills that will be translated to thriving businesses.
Governor Fintiri, explained that the two weeks training will place the beneficiaries of the training as drivers of positive change for economic empowerment and community development, adding that the present economic reality in the country requires everybody including the government to think entrepreneurially to eradicate poverty and unemployment.
Earlier in his keynote address, Adamawa State Commissioner for Entrepreneurship Development, Illiya James, said the skills acquisition training is one of the deliberate policies of governor Ahmadu Fintiri aimed at reducing poverty, empowering women and youth to make them self reliant.
He encouraged the one hundred and five trainees selected from the twenty one local government areas to take the training seriously so as to achieve the aim of establishing the ministry by the government.
In her remarks at the occasion, the state coordinator, Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency PAWECA, Hajia Aishatu Bawa, acknowledged that the training will provide means of livelihood to people of the state, urging them to step down the training to people at the grassroot.
Goodwill messages were delivered by Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry for Entrepreneurship Development and SA Entrepreneurship Development.
