Adamawa state governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment towards the development of the people of the state.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri made this reaffirmation while presenting cash assistance of five hundred thousand naira each to ten affected victims of Yola market fire disaster at the Yola south local government secretariat.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri who was represented by the commissioner for reconstruction, Rehabilitation, reintegration and humanitarian services, Bello Hammandram during the cash presentation called on the victims of the fire disaster to utilize the cash to revive their businesses.
Governor Fintiri expressed sadness over the event which occurred two weeks ago, saying that natural disasters like fire outbreak are things that cannot be prevented hence the need for business owners to be very cautious in safeguarding their business premises.
In his remarks, the chairman of Yola South local government area, Hamid Muhammad thanked the governor for swiftly coming to the aid of the victims of the fire incident.
Hamid Muhammad said the gesture of the state governor has justified his commitment to the people of Adamawa state, using the opportunity to remind the governor of his administration’s plans of building a modern market for the people of Yola south.
He thanked members of the fire incident committee for their efforts in accessing the level of damages done on time and equally called on the Gamzaki traders union to urge their members to always be mindful of handling electrical appliances in their shops especially when closing for the business of the day.
Also appreciating the governor, the Chairman, Traders union Yola south, Malam Kachalla thanked governor Fintiri for assisting the traders, which he described as an effort that can go a long way in reviving businesses of the affected victims.
Speaking on behalf of the victims, a beneficiary, Abraham Alfred expressed gratitude to the governor for coming to their aid and also prayed that he continue with the good work he has been doing for the people of Adamawa state.
It could be recalled that two weeks ago, there was a fire outbreak at the yola south market.
Although no life was lost, goods were destroyed and businesses affected.
Governor Fintiri had visited the market and pledged cash assistance to the victims.
