Adamawa State Executive Council has approved the award of the contract for the construction of Jimeta Modern Shopping complex at the cost of Nineteen billion, Seven hundred million, three hundred and eighty two thousand, sixty three naira, forty kobo.
The Commissioner of Information and Strategy James Iliya disclosed this while briefing government house correspondents shortly after the state executive council meeting chaired by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri at the council chamber.
The Commissioner for information and strategy, James Iliya, stated that the project was awarded to three different contractors with three different slots and has a completion period of twenty months.
The contractors are Lubel Nigeria limited Abuja, Madugu commercial and construction company Borno state and Amija Nigeria limited Abuja.
Shedding more light on the project, the commissioner of Commerce, Ishaya Dabari noted that once all paper works are completed within the first week of September, all contractors would mobilize on site and commence work.
He further explained that the modern shopping complex is a three blocks of two story buildings linked together.
According Dabari, there will be a fire service post, police station, a Church, Mosque as well as an administrative block in the modern shopping complex.
The commissioner of environment, Sadik Mohammed also told newsmen that the council has deliberated on climate change and the recent flood incidents experienced across the state, and called on residents living at the river banks to relocate to higher grounds, be vigilant and move away from water ways.
Also, the commissioner for Health, Felix Tangwani warned that when there is climate change and flooding, it also comes with health consequences and other pandemics.
He therefore advised people, especially those moved to camps to always boil water before consumption, maintain proper hygiene at all times and report any signs of unknown sickness to health workers as the ministry is prepared to take immediate action.
