Adamawa State Executive Council has ratified and approved multi-billion naira projects for urban and rural renewal initiatives in the state capital and selected local government areas.
The Commissioner for information and strategy, James Iliya made this known while briefing government house journalists shortly after the state Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri at the Council Chambers.
James Iliya, announced that the EXCO had approved the contract for the expansion of the remaining section of Galadima Aminu Way and the construction of an underpass at the Fire Service roundabout in Jimeta at a cost of N13,851,900,231.13.
The Commissioner explained that the contract which was awarded to MSSRS Triacta Nigeria Limited involved the construction of an underpass at the Fire Service roundabout, a storm water culvert from the underpass to Gimba Road, and a 2.3km service lane on both sides of the existing dual carriageway with improved concrete drainage on walkways.
He also stated that the EXCO had approved the electrification of Fintiri 1,000 Housing Unit at Malkohi at a cost of N832,205,400. This housing unit is home to 5,000 residents at Malkohi in Yola South LGA.
Additionally, the EXCO has approved the contract for the provision of potable water supply to the Fintiri 1,000 Housing Unit at a cost of N854,882,825.46 to Hill Water Resources Ltd.
Iliya further revealed that the EXCO had approved the transfer of Yola International Hotel from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism to Adamawa State Investment and Property Development Company at a cost of N109,046,228.57 by MSSRS Wear Capacity limited to enhance the tourism aspect of the hotel and generate adequate revenue for the state.
According to the Commissioner, the EXCO had also approved external funding of 630 million naira for thematic SDGs areas of the nation, focusing on poverty, zero hunger, and clean water and sanitation.
He added that the state government’s counterpart funding would enable it secure N1,200,000,000 to support these activities.
James Iliya disclosed that the state EXCO had approved the construction of a 14km road in Sukur, Madagali LGA, at a cost of N2,548,830,932.03. The contract was awarded to MSSRS Rochat with a duration of 12 months.
Another approved contract was the construction of a 7.5km road with bridges from Mararraba Garta to Kamale in Michika LGA, which was awarded to MSSRS Triacta Nigeria Limited with a completion period of 18 months.
The EXCO also approved the design of bills of quantities (BOQs), supervision, and construction of health facilities across the state.
The state government, under Governor Fintiri, has constructed new cottage hospitals and expanded general hospitals in Ganye, Numan, and Mubi.
The contract was awarded to Group One Dimension at a cost of N228,283,751.23.
The Commissioner for Information and Strategy announced that the EXCO had approved the construction of 3 mega Science and Technical Secondary Schools, one in each of the senatorial zones, at a total cost of N17,123,719,127.66.
These schools will be located in Lamurde (Southern Zone), Gulak (Northern Zone), and Hong (Central Zone).
The school in Hong will be exclusively for girls, while the other two will offer core education.
And lastly , the commissioner announced that Governor Fintiri had approved the payment of a N70,000 minimum wage with consequential adjustments for civil servants in Adamawa State, effective from August.
