Adamawa State Government has held a closed door expanded security meeting with the speaker of the state house of assembly, security chiefs, traditional leaders and local government council Chairmen.
Briefing newsmen Shortly after the meeting which lasted for hours at the council chamber government house Yola, the secretary to the state government, Auwal Tukur explained that the meeting was as a result of the just concluded nationwide protest which has brought unrest in some states across the country.
Auwal Tukur noted that the protest in Adamawa State was relatively calm and peaceful as a result of the cooperation of the people and proactive measures by the government, hence the meeting so as to analyze what has happened and what government and the society should be doing to ensure the peace is sustained.
Auwal Tukur Said, other areas of concerned discussed during the meeting are issues of farmer herder , illegal mining , food security as well as other issues affecting the lives and property of the people.
Tukur further stated that the state had seen the negative aspects of illegal mining in other states in the country and will not allow such cases to replicate in the state, as the governor has given instructions on how to handle the issue which will soon be detailed and made public.
The secretary to the state government debunked speculations that state government has received trucks of rice as palliative measures from the federal government, insisting that if at all there is any, it is yet to arrive into the state.
He added that as a proactive government, the Fintiri led administration is looking at ways and measures to tackle the hunger in the land through procurement of food items at the right time in order to avoid endangering the people to buying food items from the markets at higher prices.
