Taraba state governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas has approved the constitution of a 10-man committee on mental health and well-being.
This was contained in a statement signed and made available to newsmen by secretary to the government of the state, Chief Gebon Timothy Kataps.
According to the statement, members of the committee include:
Dr. Ebenezer Apakeh- chairman, Director Public Health, Dr. Abe Agbu-Secretary, Dr. Zipporah Angyu- member, Dr. Elisha kwentishe- member, Pharmacist Paninga Bileya- member.
Other members are: Dr. Dashe Dasogot, Dr. Judith Ajifa Odekina, Dr. Ahmad Baba Mohammed and Representatives from NAFDAC and NDLEA.
The committee is expected to operate under specific terms of reference such as: awareness creation on mental health among youths and the need for youths to prioritise their mental health, awareness campaign on the dangers of drug abuse in all youth settings, collaborate with relevant law enforcement agencies to curb availability of illicit substances and prescription drug, Identify persons who are addicted and persons who have mental disorders and refer them for appropriate treatments, work with government to establish skills acquisition centres across the state to get youths engaged in meaningful ventures, among other guidelines.
