The Executive Chairman of the Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board (ADSUBEB), Dr. Murtala Umar Babayi, has reiterated the need for children of school age to remain in school and complete their education to become responsible citizens who contribute to national development.
Dr. Babayi made this call during a visit to the Murum Mbula’s palace in Borrong, Demsa Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
He expressed concern that despite significant government investment in education, some parents still refuse to send their children to school.
Babayi emphasized that the government remains committed to ensuring that every child has access to education without any hindrances or barriers.
Speaking during the visit, the Focal Person for the Better Education Service Delivery for All (BESDA), Vincent Adiel, noted that the primary goal of the visit was to drive school enrollment.
He noted that basic education is free and compulsory, underscoring the need to provide children with quality education as a fundamental right.
Adiel further revealed plans to collect data for effective planning concerning out-of-school children and the training of more teachers.
He also called for the support of the Murum Mbula and his council members to ensure the success of the program.
In response, the Paramount Ruler of Mbula kingdom, Murum Bwaltam Bently Biyapo, commended the Board and the Adamawa State Government for their education-friendly policies.
He stressed the importance of children’s education and expressed full support for the initiative.
Lamenting the neglect of children’s education in some areas, Murum Mbula, warned that such negligence would not be tolerated in his domain.
the Paramount Ruler of Mbula kingdom, Murum Bwaltam Bently Biyapo, also advocated for data collection not only on out-of-school children, but also on the structural conditions of school facilities to create a conducive learning environment and encourage school attendance and retention.
