As part of its ongoing school enrollment drive, the Better Education Service Delivery for All, BESDA, team on Thursday, visited Guyuk to seek collaboration with the traditional council in addressing the out-of-school children crisis in the state.
Chairman of the Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, Dr. Murtala Babayi, at the palace of the Kwandi Nunguraya, solicited the support of the Guyuk Traditional Council in tackling the challenge of out-of-school children and ensuring their enrollment in schools.
Babayi emphasized that basic education is free for all children in the country and urged parents to take advantage of this policy to secure a better future for their wards.
In a remark, the BESDA focal person and Director of Physical Planning, Vincent Adiel called for a strong partnership with religious and community leaders to ensure that all school-age children are taken off the streets and enrolled in school.
Adiel also appealed for the traditional council’s support in sustaining the BESDA program for long-term impact.
Responding, Kwandi Nunguraya, Kuruhaye Dishon Dansanda commended the government’s efforts in education, noting that the initiatives are already yielding positive results.
He emphasized that out-of-school children syndrome is unacceptable in his domain ,where education is compulsory and parents face sanctions for non-compliance.
The traditional ruler appreciated the Ministry of Education for its commitment to improving school enrollment and pledged to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to significantly reduce the number of out-of-school children in the state.
