BREAKING: Adamawa State Gov’t approves payment of #70,000 minimum wage to workers in the state

Adamawa State government has agreed to implement the new National minimum wage of #70, 000 to workers in the state.

 

 

Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress NLC Adamawa state Chapter, Comrade Emmanuel Fashe revealed this to newsmen at the government house shortly after a meeting between the leadership of the organized labor with governor.

 

 

Comrade Emmanuel Fashe explained that owing to the promise made by governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri that whatever the outcome of the minimum wage approved by the federal government, he is ready to implement as well and the governor has given directives that the minimum wage be implemented for both the state and local government workers.

 

 

According to the labor leader, the state governor said 2019 consequential adjustment table will be use for the implementation, as he has directed the state accountant general’s office to work on the new minimum wage so that it will be implemented to workers, especially those in the payroll of state government in this month of August.

 

 

He assured that local government workers will equally enjoy the minimum wage hopefully by next month owing to the accounting process involved and the enormous number of workers in local government areas as it consist of the primary school teachers, the primary healthcare workers as well as the administrative staff.

 

 

Those present during the meeting were the deputy governor, the secretary to the state government and some permanent secretaries.
