About one hundred and and sixty five persons have tested positive to cervical cancer test in Adamawa State.
This followed the screening of one thousand nine hundred and seventy two persons against cervical cancer.
Deputy governor of Adamawa State, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, disclosed this at a task force meeting of Primary Healthcare Development Agency held at Conference hall Government House, Yola.
The Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta who is also the Chairman, Adamawa State Task Force on Immunization explained that the plan to further evaluate all the detected one hundred and sixty five positive cases was to link them to access their needed care.
Professor Kaletapwa Farauta applauded the effort of all stakeholders towards a successful cervical cancer awareness, sensitization and screening campaign held across the twenty one local government areas of the state.
On measles campaign, the deputy governor said as the state prepare for the forth coming integrated measles supplemental immunization campaign scheduled for 26th October to 1st November, 2024, there is the need to repeat the success recorded in the last non-polio supplemental campaign in 2022 or even to surpass it.
Speaking on the recent outbreak of acute watery diarrhea in Yola- North local government area, the Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta said the situation has been grossly stabilized with many of the patients declared free of diarrhea and discharged from health facilities.
She therefore directed health workers to provide a prompt and coordinated outbreak response, urging the public to maintain adequate hygiene practices and early presentation of the cases at health facilities for expert treatment and guidance.
Also Speaking, the Executive Chairman Adamawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency Dr Suleiman Saidu Bashir explained that the meeting was an alignment to to provide solutions on issues affecting health care in the state.
He further gave an overview feedback on integrated Measles Campaign, increase cases of Acute Watery Diarrhea and Flood Alert.
The state ALGON Secretary, Idris Yahaya promised to support state government to improve health care services in the state.
In attendance were the development partners such as WHO, UNICEF, CAN, Muslim Council and the traditional rulers among others.
