Climate justice activists in Adamawa State encouraged to build respectful relationship with legislatures for climate justice

Executive Director, Global Initiative for Food Security and Ecosystem Preservation, Micheal David, says climate justice can be achieved through political lobby and charged citizens to build respectful relationship with their legislatures.

David disclosed this in an interview with Fombina News at a two-day workshop for climate change activists on building political will for climate justice in Yola, Adamawa State capital.

The Executive Director, Global Initiative For Food Security and Ecosystem Preservation, Micheal David, stressed the urgent need to build political will in other to create an enabling environment for climate action in Adamawa State and the country at large through laws and policies.

David emphasized that Adamawa State is vulnerable to the impact of climate change and therefore encouraged the citizens to elect climate justice friendly leaders so as to win the fight against climate justice globally.

Executive Director, Adamawa Environmental Protection Agency, Dr. Ibrahim Umar, says the training is apt, coming at a time the state and county at large are being faced with the negative impacts of climate change and called on the participants to utilize knowledge gained toward achieving the objective of the training.

Earlier, while explaining the objective of the training, the Programme Assistant, African Activities for Climate Justice, Dorcas Nicanor stressed the need to engage political leaders with ideas to influence their actions on climate change in their various constituencies for the benefits of the state and Nation at large.

She advised the participants to take ownership of the fight for climate justice for positive change in their respective communities.

High point of the 2-day workshop was a symbolic visit to the Adamawa State House of Assembly for a practical climate justice lobbying.
