The management of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria FRCN, has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting its land and property nationwide against encroachers and land grabbers.

The Corporation has warned the public against unauthorised individuals and external scammers attempting to sell its land illegally.

In a statement, FRCN Director-General, Dr. Mohammed Bulama, clarified that no land or property belonging to the Corporation nationwide has been put up for sale.

The statement explains that some strategic FRCN properties, including No. 45 Martins Street, Marina, Lagos, and properties in Independence Layout, Enugu, Ibadan and other locations, were sold by the disbanded Presidential Implementation Committee without recourse to the Corporation.

According to the statement the Management’s decision to unlock the economic potential of some land assets through Public-Private Partnerships PPP complies with the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission Act of 2005, the National Policy on Public-Private Partnership and relevant Federal Government guidelines.

It states that the Corporation adopted the Design, Finance, Build, Operate and Transfer model to transform underutilised land into revenue-generating assets while retaining ownership.

The initiative also aims to promote private-sector participation, strengthen institutional sustainability and stimulate economic activities in project locations.

“Section 2.1.4 of the FRCN Act empowers the Corporation to manage its assets and enter into commercial arrangements, provided they remain consistent with its broadcasting obligations” the statement explains.

The statement says the ongoing PPP projects in Lagos, Ibadan, Owerri and Kaduna would help address the challenges of ageing and increasingly costly broadcast infrastructure. Stressing that, the Director General is committed towards unlocking the value of FRCN’s land assets through PPP arrangements to help fund the renewal of dilapidated broadcast infrastructure while supporting the policies of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
