DSS RETREAT: Gov. Fintiri suggests regular interagency meetings in order to tackle insecurity in the country.

Adamawa state governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintri has suggested Regular Interagency Meetings and Joint Operations as one of the measures to curb insecurity bedeviling the country.

 

 

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintri made the suggestion while declaring open, the thirteenth northeast quarterly retreat of Directors of State Security Services which took place at the DSS Adamawa Command in yola, the state capital.

 

 

Governor Ahamdu Umaru fintiri advised that Security agencies should conduct regular meetings to share information, coordinate operations, and address challenges or gaps in their efforts to maintain peace and security.

 

 

Governor Fintiri highlighted that Information Sharing and Intelligence Fusion as well as Joint Training and Capacity Building between the DSS and other security agencies would go a long way in providing a comprehensive picture of the security situation in the northeast region and the training will further enhanced their collective ability to respond to security threats effectively.

 

 

” the government should engage the private sector, civil society organizations, and community leaders in its security efforts, leveraging their resources, expertise, and influence to support peace and stability in the region”.

 

 

The Governor who stated that the northeast region has been plagued by a multitude of security problems for too long that threatened the peace, stability, and development of the states in the region and the entire nation, added that the region has been battling head long with series of security challenges which have regrettably left communities vulnerable and the people are living in fear and trauma of the previous untold disturbances.

 

 

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri said Adamawa State in particular, there is long drawn battle with kidnapping cells and the Shilla boys nefarious activities, the urban criminal gang of boys snatching phones and inflicting injuries on commuters.

 

“It is our collective responsibility to address these challenges head-on, in full recognition of the constitutional role of the DSS to protect our great nation from internal subversion, sabotage, and domestic crimes”.

 

 

He assured the resolve of northeast governors to cooperate with the DSS and other security agencies at all levels in order to provide security and enabling environment for peace, law and order.

 

 

In his welcome remarks, The State Director of DSS, Alhaji Hassan Adeleke said the conference will brainstorm on the contemporary general security situation bedevilling the northeast zone.

 

 

Alhaji Adeleke said at the end of the conference resolution will be made to provide further guidance and courses of action to service commands in the zone as well as other critical stakeholders.

 

 

In their good will messages, Brigade Commander 23 Armoured Bridgade, Yola, Brigadier General Mohammed Jibril Gambo, and Commissioner of Police in Adamawa, Tola Afolabi assured collaborative synergy with sister agencies to ensure that the country is secured.

 

 

Highlight of the opening ceremony was presentation of plague to Governor Umaru Fintiri in recognition of his legitimate efforts and support to DSS command in the state.
