FCE Yola flags-off tree planting campaign within the campus.

Federal College of Education Yola in collaboration with a Non Governmental Organization Green Environmental Solution (GESOL) has embarked on five hundred Tree Planting Campaing in the college.

The campaign ceremony took place at the school premises in Yola.

 

 

Delivering a speech at the opening of the tree planting exercise, the National Coordinator of Green Environmental Solution (GESOL) Hamza Hassan, said the organization resolved to plant the trees in FCE Yola, to create good atmosphere of learning for students and to also maintain green environment mission.

 

 

He said as the world is faced with the consequences of climate change and deforestation which increasingly become evident, GESOL, offers a beacon of hope, a practical and effective strategy to combat the challenges that environments face.

 

 

Hassan Hamza added that their intervention cuts across the 21 local government areas of Adamawa state last year planted over thirty thousand seedings in elementary schools hence their choice to carryout similar function in FCE Yola.

 

 

Also commenting, the Provost Federal College of Education Yola, Dr. Muhammad Degereji, represented by his deputy Hajiya Aisha Abdulkadir, thanked (Gesol) for organizing the event identifying tree planting as a way to avert deforestation calling on the students to maintain the trees and encourage members of their communities to do the same to ensure greener environment.

 

 

Speaking also, the registrar of the College, Mallam Gidado Ahmad, said the institution was delighted to have Gesol, as partners in progress towards ensuring conducive environment for students by planting the trees.

 

 

The trees planting exercise under the sanitation committee of the institution had in attendance Academic and non Academic Staff, students and members of the National Youth Service Corps among others.

There was symbolic planting of the trees by GESOL Representative, Members of the Core Management, Chairman Sanitation Committee, College Unions, College NYS representative, and SUG representative.
