In continuation of its mission of planting one million trees each year across all local Government areas in Gombe state.
The Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) Gombe Project office in collaboration with Gombe Goes Green 3G, Under the administration of Governor Mohammadu Inuwa Yahaya embarked on its weekly tree planting campaign at Buba shongo with a remarkable number of different species of trees planted this week.
In an interview with newsmen, The natural Resource officer Acresal Gombe Project office Mohammed Musa Aliyu, said more tree planting projects are in the pipelines and also disclosed to newsmen the type of trees planted this week include fruits bearings and wind breaker as well as shelter trees.
The natural resources officer further said faced with any challenges during the course of this Campaign, The resource Officer attributed the project success to the support of the Gombe state Governor and the enormous support of the people of the state.
A resident of the benefiting community, simply identified as Mama, applauded the initiative and called for people of the community to assist in watering the trees and appealed for more coverage of the area.
Mr Mohammed Musa Aliyu further appealed to the general public to take ownership of the project by watering and protecting the trees and also called for more support for the government in seeing that the success of the project is realized. He further advised farmers not to cut down trees in their farm but to come to the office to have access to different species of trees so they can plant in their farms.
