The speaker Gombe state House of Assembly Abubakar Mohammed Luggerewo has call on MDAs to Adhere to financial principles in order to obtain transparent, fair and accessible Governance in the state.
He stated this at the conference hall of the state House of Assembly while declaring open an interactive session of the public Account committee in respect of Gombe state Auditor General’s report for the year ended 31st December 2022.
The speaker said the public account committee is saddle with the responsibility of overseeing public expenditures in order to ensure due process is strickly adhered to at all stages.
He reiterated that Government have limited resources that needs to be managed properly and financial statements records are accurate and in comformity with the regulatory guidelines.
The speaker also said in previous years the Audit and financial management are not submitted in time, they do consider three years report but this time around reverse is the case.
The chief lawmaker appreciated the office of the Auditor General for doing what it takes to ensure Gombe state financial records are accurate.
Earlier in his welcome address the chairman public Account committee Nimrod Malon Yari representing Billiri west said the interactive session is an in house affairs ment not to witch hunt anybody but to correct all financial inregularities within the MDAs in the state.
He call on all MDAs to liase with the state Auditor General with the aim of updating all their financial records before the end of every year.
In his vote of thanks on behalf of the MDAs the state Auditor General Mohammed Buba Bajoga appreciated the effort of the state Governor Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya CON (Dan majen Gombe) for complying with the financial act and thank the honourable House for their support and cooperation towards implementing the report.
In a related development the speaker of the House Abubakar Mohammed Luggerewo has assured of the house determination in ensuring legislature on girl child education in the state.
He stated this in his office while granting audience to the representative of Malala foundation who paid him a courtesy visit.
The speaker said as people representative the state legislators will do everything within their powers to back any group aim at ensuring girl child education which is quite alarming in the state and the nation at large.
He said with the recent declaration of state of emergency on education by the state Governor where most schools in the state where rehabilitated and new ones are built which is to carter for education of our children in the state especially girl child education.
In their separate remarks Mr. Femi Aderibigbe who is the Advocacy manager of Malala foundation and Dorcas Yusuf representative of livitus Africa organisation both said they were in the house to sought for the cooperation of the state legislators in curving the menace of girl child education against school dropouts.
They said according to data analysis five states were selected in which Gombe is among we’re they observed that there is massive girl child education against dropouts in the state hence the need for legislative action against such school dropouts.
The speaker on behalf of the House sign a memorandum of understanding which signifies starter between the House and the Malala foundation as earlier briefed to the speaker at the UNISEF house in Abuja.
