Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State says security of lives and property are his topmost priorities to make the state One of the safest in the country.
Umaru Fintiri gave the assurance during Armed Forces Appeal Fund 2024 held at Government House Council Chambers, Yola.
Represented by the Deputy Governor of the state, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, governor Ahmadu Fintiri explained that Armed Forces Remembrance Day is a day worth celebrating in recognition of the sacrifices of soldiers that have kept Nigeria united and to also remember those who paid the supreme sacrifice for the country.
According to him, the state government has provided operational vehicles to security agencies, hunters Association in the 21 local government areas of the state to help combat crime and other forms of insecurity.
He also lauded the military for their vigor in keeping Nigeria one and their good role in fighting insurgency in the in the North-East and Adamawa state in particular.
The state chairman of the Nigeria Legion, Master Warrant Officer Ali Mohammed Retired, applauded the bravery of the military and the veterans for their efforts in Peacekeeping within and outside Nigeria.
He commended the developmental achievements of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s administration which he said is for the betterment of the state, soliciting more support to the Legion to better the lives of the families of the fallen heroes in the state.
Earlier, Adamawa state head of service, Isa Shehu Ardo saluted the resilience and sacrifices of the fallen heroes, advocating more support for their families by government, individuals, groups, civil society organizations among others.
While speaking on the state of Education in the state, governor Fintiri said his government has ensured prompt payment of WAEC, NECO and NABTEB fees which has encouraged optimal performance that has reflected in students results.
The governor emphasized that, the present administration is working hard to empower more youths and women to enhance their capacity for technical skills and Entrepreneurship as many skills acquisition has been re-sustated.
Governor Fintiri, further said due to his desire to boost food security in the state through improvement of Agriculture, government has made fertilizer affordable to the people of the state.
