Governor Fintiri Grants Pardon To Two Inmates

Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has exercised his constitutional powers by granting pardon to two inmates serving various sentences at the Yola Old Medium Security Custodial Centre and Medium Security Custodial Centre Jada.

 

The inmates who benefitted from the Governor’s clemency are Chai Yerima and Mohammed Bapeto.

 

This was made known in a statement signed by the Chief press secretary to the governor, Humwashi Wonosikou and made available to newsmen in Yola the Adamawa State Capital.

 

According to the statement, the Governor’s decision is upon the recommendation of the Council on the Prerogative of Mercy, in line with Section 212 (i) (d) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999.

 

Therefore, by virtue of this pardon, the remainder of their sentences has been remitted whole as the Governor ordered their discharge with immediate effect.

 

Governor Fintiri urged the freed inmates to seize this opportunity to reform and become productive members of society.

 

The governor equally advised them to be law-abiding, seek rehabilitation, pursue education and skills, reconnect with family and community, and show gratitude for this second chance.

 

The Statement added that this gesture demonstrated the Governor’s commitment to justice, compassion, and human rights.
