A lecturer with Geography Department, Federal College of Education Yola,Dr Madube Tumba Kwabe has attributed the intensity of the pollution and effect of the present hazy weather to the escalating war in the middle -east.
As such, the health implications to an individual will be more serious and complex due to the types of polythans (gasses).
The Geographer gave the indication while throwing more light on the health implications of the harmattan during an interview with our Correspondent in Yola, the Adamawa state capital.
He said the haze can cause cough,fluid and other respiratory diseases.
According to him,it can also causes skin dryness.
A simple and quick preventive measures are the use of face mask and drinking of warm water as well as avoiding staying longer in open places under the haze.
He therefore advised the use of long sleeves and hats.
In a prolonged symptoms, the Geographer advice victims to consult a Medical Doctor while young children should stay indoors while in schools particularly during morning and evenings.
Doors and window curtains should be materials that will absorb the dust.
He recommended the use of Vaseline rather than mercury body lotions on the skin.
