Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria (MHWUN) Adamawa chapter on Wednesday appealed to Adamawa government to improve welfare of members as enjoy other members across the nation.
Usman Babbada, Chapter Chairman made the plea at the 7th Quadrennial state conference in Yola with the theme “Nigeria health system in the era of economic downturn: issues, challenges and way forward”.
He said there were several issues that are yet to be implement in the state for the benefit of their members.
“Implementation of upward reviewed Hazard Allowances as approved by the Federal Government.
“Implementation of per cent CONHESS as declared by Gov. Ahmad Fintiri during the presentation of Award of Good Governance by the Leadership of MHWUN in January, 2023.
“Implementation of 20% furniture allowances to deserving health workers as agreed by the Government in 2018”, he said.
Babbada further appreciated members for the confidence response in them to run for the second term and assured to double their efforts for the success of the union and health sector in the state.
Mr Isa Shehu, Head of Service Adamawa described the conference as significant milestone in the state.
He urged the delegates to take advantage to share knowledge and chat a course for the success of the union members.
In an address, Kabiru Minjibir, MHWUN ‘s National President also urged Gov. Fintiri to look into the issues of approved packages for peace and harmony in health sector and the state.
He said that the issues affected day-to-day activities of their members and called on members to ensure effective services for the development of the state.
Emmanuel Fashe, Chairman Nigeria labour Congress NLC Adamawa emphasized the need for employment of more health workers in the state.
According to him, in some health facilities, a nurse attends to two wards.
NAN report that the conference witnessed consensus allowing the current executive to run for the second term tenure with Usman Babbada and Jane Dibal as Chairman and secretary respectively.(NAN)
