Adamawa State Government has assured financial institutions operating in the state of full support and cooperation in facilitating small scale businesses to rural dwellers for empowerment and community development.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri gave the indication during the re-opening of DAPTIKIR MICRO -FINANCE BANK in Hong local government area of the state.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri who was represented by the Speaker, Adamawa state House of Assembly Bathiya Wesley at the event said the re-opening of the DAPTIKIR MICRO -FINANCE BANK, Formerly known as Biyama ,is a new chapter in the history of Hong Community in Adamawa state considering the agrarian nature of the community as farmers, traders, artisans and those operating small scale businesses would access soft loans and grants to expand their investments for empowerment and food security.
The Governor who commended the Board of Directors for resuscitating the Bank since it’s closure in May 2023 by the Central Bank alongside 185 other Micro-Finance Banks charged them to be innovative, maintaining the best international practices, integrity, risk management and navigate through regulatory changes, market challenges and emerging opportunities.
The Chairman of the occasion, who is also the Provost College of Education Hong,Professor Benson Baha emphasized on the need for Haba people to invest in DAPTIKIR MICRO -FINANCE BANK as it will create employment opportunities, increase success stories of businesses and alleviate poverty in Kilba communities.
The Guest Speaker at the event,Asongo Abraham who delivered lecture on the topic “The importance of Micro-Finance for community development and nation building” spoke extensively on its importance for the people and communities in Hong, the role of shareholders and stakeholders in funding and safeguarding the Bank, role of regulators in financial institutions as well as the role of customers in it’s sustenance.
There were goodwill messages from the Chairman Board of Directors, Professor Johnson Pongri, The former Chairman, National Arbitration panel, Barrister DD Azura and the Chairman,Hong local government area, Inuwa Usman Waganda.
