The Legal Adviser of the ICPC Yola Zonal Office, Iorngee Solomon, has announced that the commission can now receive petitions, process, and prosecute corruption cases below one hundred million Naira (₦100 million), calling on lawyers to leverage this opportunity to enhance the fight against corruption and ensure swift justice.
This disclosure came during the July 2026 Inaugural General Meeting of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Adamawa State Branch, which convened over 400 practicing lawyers in Yola under the newly elected leadership of Barrister Matthew Moses Tumba.
The hybrid meeting, sponsored by the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Adamawa State, Barrister Afraimu K. Jingi, a Life Bencher, brought together legal luminaries including Musa Attah SAN, Z.Y. Usman SAN, former National Arbitration Panel Chairman Barrister D.D. Azura, and other distinguished members of the Bench and Bar.
In his address, NBA Chairman Barrister Matthew Moses Tumba acknowledged the onerous task before the new leadership, emphasizing the critical mission of uniting the Bar. “Our doors remain open, and we welcome constructive criticism. Sacrifice and service remain our benchmark,” Tumba stated, while commending past executives for laying a solid foundation.
A significant outcome of the meeting was the ratification of a 15-member Law Week Organizing Committee headed by Hussaini Maidawa, tasked with planning the 2026 Law Week activities.
A special committee was also constituted to rename the Branch’s Slogan to portray Adamawa State’s cultural heritage at the national level.
Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice,Afraimu Jingi congratulated the new EXCO and pledged the Adamawa State Government’s unwavering support to both the Bar and Bench, emphasizing commitment to facilitating easy dispensation of justice and a conducive working environment for legal practitioners.
Former National Arbitration Panel Chairman Barrister D.D. Azura and NBA Mubi Branch Chairman Mohammed Gidado Ladde commended the Tumba-led EXCO for successfully bringing together legal luminaries across the state, with Azura particularly encouraging members to actively pursue national positions in the next NBA election.
The Legal Adviser of the ICPC Yola Zonal Office further informed members that the zonal office is now equipped to handle corruption cases below ₦100 million, urging lawyers to take advantage of this development to enhance the fight against corruption.
The inaugural meeting concluded with a reception and party where lawyers fraternized, strengthening professional camaraderie that forms the cornerstone of the legal profession.
