Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas has urged Christians to remain the conscience of society by providing moral and spiritual guidance amid growing challenges in society.
The Governor made the call while speaking at the ongoing Ministers’ Conference organised by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Taraba State chapter, in Jalingo.

He said the church and government have distinct but complementary roles in building a peaceful, just, and prosperous society.
Governor Kefas explained that while government is responsible for justice, security, order, and citizens’ welfare, the church must uphold truth, righteousness, compassion, moral discipline, and the fear of God.
He cautioned Christian leaders against allowing partisan politics, ethnic interests, personal ambitions, and denominational differences to divide the church.

The Governor stressed that political parties, governments, and politicians would come and go, but the church would remain, urging Christians to preserve their unity and brotherhood.
He also called on the church to speak against corruption, drug abuse, violence, hatred, injustice, and immorality while encouraging young people to pursue legitimate means of achieving success in life.
In his sermon on spirituality in the church, the Lead Pastor of Living Word Conquerors Global Assembly, Bishop David Abioye, urged Christians to wake up from spiritual slumber and live in accordance to God’s standards.

He described spirituality as the strength and secret of the church, warning that loss of spiritual consciousness exposes believers to the activities of the enemy.
Also, delivering his message, the Archbishop of Abuja Diocese, Most Reverend Ignatius Kaigama called for greater unity within the church, stressing that Christians must lead by example in promoting peace and togetherness.
