Media Practitioners chargedon Inclusive Contents.

The Institute for Media and Society, has charged media organizations to produce contents that are  inclusive and carries all segments of the society along.
The Institute gave the charge at a two today capacity building workshop it organized For the Media in collaboration with European Union held in Yola, Adamawa State.
The Director of the Institute, Dr. Akin Akingbulu explained that the project was funded by the  European Union to ensure the inclusion of  vulnerable persons such as  people With Disability, Women and Youths in the electoral Process.
Dr. Akingbulu also said the project has achieved much in its various assignments on engaging policy implementers to consider the plight of  vulnerable people.
The Programme Manager of the Institute for Media and Society, Timothy Bamidele explained that the programme on good practices and inclusive coverage  of Electoral Processes should constantly be a conversation  among Producers, presenters, reporters, scholars, media and CSOs initiatives and other relevant groups in an effort to promote  inclusiveness in all electoral processes.
Mr Timothy Bamidele  said the conversation has helped them to shed light on addressing challenges that before now had hindered inclusive coverage of  the marginalized groups prior to the general election.
He said they have had similar conversation where major stakeholders were able to look at coverage of Women, Youths as well as People With Disability in such a way that encourages their participation in the process as leaders and also as critical stakeholders.
According to the programme Manager of the Institute, the workshop has given them the opportunity to  have a reflection on broadcast contents as it relates to the vulnerable groups.
He said good practices  in the area of coverage of Electoral Processes allows   all manner of people in the society to participate.
Also Speaking, the Facilitator, from the Department of Mass Communication , University of Maiduguri Mrs Rahila Jibrin urged media organizations, civil society  organizations as well as government and private organizations to ensure inclusiveness of People With Disability while discharging their duties.
Participants at the two days capacity building workshop expressed satisfaction and promised to put what they have learned into practice.
