As the global community observes 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign, the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ Adamawa State chapter has called for collaborative efforts to end all forms of Violence.
In a statement signed by the Adamawa state NAWOJ chairperson, Rose Anthony Elishama and Secretary, Gloria Abutu, the association reiterated the need to raise awareness, foster dialogue, and advocate for tangible actions to eradicate all forms of gender-based violence in the society.
The statement added that this year’s theme, “Invest to Prevent Violence Against Women and Girls” underscores the urgency of collective efforts to address the menace affecting vulnerable individuals across the globe.
While noting that Gender-based violence affects people regardless of age, race or socioeconomic status, NAWOJ Adamawa stressed the importance of creating a society where every individual feels safe, valued, and empowered.
The association therefore urged government, communities, and individuals to work collectively to enact and enforce policies that protect against gender-based violence and raise their voices to echo the demand for justice for survivors and accountability for perpetrators.
The annual 16 Days of Activism campaign which runs from November 25th to December 10th is a crucial period which serves as a reminder of the persistent challenges individuals face due to Gender-Based Violence.
