NIGERIA ARMY CONCLUDES THE ACTIVITIES OF 2023 WITH GAMES AND COMPETITIONS IN YOLA.

The Headquarters of the Nigerian Army 23 Brigade Yola, has organized the annual West Africa Social Activities (WASA) which marked the end of the activities of year 2023.

 

The annual event which is part of the Nigerian Army sportsmanship to further create social engagement between officers of the command and other sister security agencies, took place at Gibson Jalo Military Base in Yola.

 

The event which had variety of games, dances and competitions, showcased the talent, experience and the expertise of the military officers and other security agencies including Civil Defense, Nigerian Airforce and the Nigeria Police on different races, to strengthen social cohesion and tolerance for the activities of one another.

 

In a remark, Special Guest of Honor Adamawa State Governor Ahmad Umaru Fintiri, identified the event as a significant milestone under the good leadership of the Brigade Commander and his men, saying that his administration will further accord the military personnel the required support to bolster their operation to piker heights.

 

Governor Fintiri noted that despite challenges faced by the officers and men of the command operating in a security challenging environment, their effort to secure people of Adamawa was commendable.

 

Earlier In a welcome address to mark the event open, the Brigade commander, 23 Brigade Yola, Brigadier General Paul Kefas Zawaya, said the annual event was part of the tradition of the Nigerian army to showcase their skills and tactics as well as their cultural heritage at the end of every year.

 

Brigadier Paul Kefas Zawaya added that the aim was to boost the moral of the personnel and acquaint them with the skills to handle their job with care, expertise and tolerance for their colleagues and other security outlets.

 

The West African Social Activities WASA for the year 2023, had the inclusion of Army vs Civil Defense Female Tug of War, Police vs Immigration Female Tug of War, and Army vs Airforce Male Tug of War.

 

Highpoints of the event were Egg race, Higgi, Fulani, Bachama, Yoruba, Margi and Igbo cultural dances, presentation of awards to outstanding soldiers, teachers and students, beating of retreat band and lighting of camp fire signifying the closure of 2023 activities to usher in the 2024 activities.
