Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas has announced that over 10,000 youths and women are benefiting from the Taraba State COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (TR-CARES) program.
The governor made this known during the flag-off of the third round of Livelihood Special Grants Transfer in Jalingo.
Represented by Deputy Governor Aminu Abdullahi Alkali, Governor Kefas explained that the intervention aims to support micro and small and medium-sized businesses owned by youths and women, enabling them to become self-reliant.
Each beneficiary received fifty thousand naira, with the grants distributed across the 16 local government areas, including Yangtu and Ngada Special Development Areas.
Governor Kefas urged the beneficiaries to utilize the grants wisely to improve their livelihoods.
Commissioner for Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Habu James Philips, noted that the program was established in 2020 by the state government in collaboration with the Ministry of Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation to enhance the lives of youths and women.
In their goodwill messages, Commissioner of Women Affairs, Mary Sinjen, and Chief of Staff, Government House Administration, Dr. Jeji Williams commended Governor Kefas’ efforts in the state and encouraged beneficiaries to take advantage of the program.
