The Pen Resources Base Center marked a significant milestone on Saturday, August 8, 2026, with a combined graduation and matriculation ceremony held at Shuware Garden City, Mubi.
The event, which celebrated the graduation of 57 students and the formal matriculation of 78 new students, drew a large gathering of community leaders, education partners, parents, guardians, and well-wishers.
Radio NIgeria Correspondent, Bamanga Abdullahi Gombi, reports that the center, which has been a pillar of health training and services for 45 years, continues to play a vital role in producing healthcare professionals for Adamawa State and beyond.
Speaking on the event, Hon. Suleiman Yahya Sudi, the Member representing Mubi North, Mubi South, and Maiha Federal Constituency, described investment in practical health skills training for youths as a strategic approach to tackling unemployment, reducing poverty, and ensuring a prosperous future for the constituency.
The lawmaker disclosed that his sponsorship of 50 indigenous students at the center was motivated by a commitment to expanding access to quality healthcare and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for young people.
Sudi expressed optimism that the initiative would transform beneficiaries’ lives, produce a new generation of competent health professionals, and enhance primary healthcare service delivery across the zone.
“My investment in education is to make a common Man get knowledge that can benefit the whole society in future”.
Delivering his remarks, the Director of Pen Resources Base Center, Mubi, Dr. Khalid Yakub Mohammed, stated that the institution was established to produce competent, disciplined, upright, and compassionate healthcare personnel capable of improving community health in Adamawa State and beyond.
Dr. Khalid commended the graduating students for their discipline and academic excellence, noting that they were fully prepared to serve humanity with professionalism and integrity.
He further highlighted that the center is recognized as a leading national institution of excellence in practical skills acquisition, agribusiness development, youth empowerment, and emergency services.
Corroboratin, the Lead Trainer and Gombi Coordinator, Mr. Ibrahim Sabo, explained that the center trains students in courses including Pharmacology, Clinical Skills, Anatomy, First Aid, and Vital Health.
He added that the program combines in-depth classroom instruction with two rounds of eight-week Industrial Training to ensure a balance between theory and practical experience.
” The Center remains steadfast in its commitment to producing professonals who deliver excellent services to humanity, while also extending support to persons in dire need”.
One of the best graduating students, Salisu Aliyu Shuware, described mastering clinical procedures during fieldwork as his greatest challenge while expressing that being recognized as the top student was both a privilege and a great honor.
Another graduate, Zainab Bamanga from Gombi, described her training as a turning point in her life, noting that the center had prepared her and her colleagues to work confidently in health facilities across Nigeria and beyond.
” I hope to serve in a primary health care center, now that I have my certificate I want to help Mothers, Children, and the elderly to access better health care”.
Zainab pledged to utilize the knowledge gained in community mobilization, disease surveillance, outbreak prevention, and early health intervention, particularly in rural areas.
