The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Yola Branch, has commended the Adamawa State Police Command for its efforts in combating criminal activities across the state, while also calling for intensified investigations into the recent attack on one of its members.
In a statement issued by the Branch Chairman, M. M. Tumba, Esq., the association praised the leadership of Commissioner of Police, Kabiru Umar Hassan, for sustained operations against “Shila boys” and other criminal elements terrorizing residents of the state.
The NBA also acknowledged the Adamawa State Government for its unwavering support in strengthening the fight against crime in the region.
However, the association expressed deep concern over the attack on Mr.R.M. Agav, a member of the Branch, who was reportedly assaulted by people suspected Shila boys at his home.
During the incident, valuable property was stolen from the victim.
The association noted with gratitude that no life was loss and no physical injuries were sustained during the attack.
While recognizing the Command’s commendable efforts, the NBA urged the Commissioner of Police to intensify investigations into the incident to ensure that the perpetrators are identified, arrested, and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
“The Branch respectfully urges the Commissioner of Police to intensify investigations into this incident with a view to identifying, arresting, and prosecuting the perpetrators in accordance with the law,” the statement read.
The NBA further emphasized that bringing the culprits to justice would strengthen public confidence in the Police and reinforce the rule of law.
Reaffirming its commitment to justice and security, the NBA, Yola Branch, pledged to support every lawful initiative aimed at promoting justice, protecting lives and property, and ensuring a safer Adamawa State.
