President Bola Tinubu has expressed committed to support Borno state government in addressing the recent flood disaster.
The President made pledge during a sympathy visit to the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar ibn Umar Garbai Elkanemi, at his palace in Maiduguri.

The President who cut short his trip to the United States, expressed solidarity with the people of Borno and committed to assisting in the recovery efforts.
He assured that the federal government will aid in rehabilitating affected areas and addressing the victims’ needs.
“This is a disaster that requires our collective focus,” President Tinubu stated. “It is not just Borno’s problem but a national issue. We must share in each other’s pain and work together to overcome these challenges.”
The President also highlighted the need for a united effort to address climate change and environmental issues affecting the country.
He extended his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives.
Borno state Governor Babagana Zulum expressed gratitude for the President’s support and that of federal government agencies.
He requested for the reconstruction of the Alau Dam with improved hydraulic structures to better manage water flow.
Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Garbai Elkanemi, thanked the President for his concern and called for an investigation into the causes of the flooding.
Upon his arrival, President Tinubu visited displaced persons at the Government College camp and promised ongoing support for those affected.
Correspondent Dauda Iliya reports that the President Tinubu was accompanied on this visit by the Senate President Goodswill Akpabio, Chairman Nigerian Governors’ Forum Abdurahman Abdulrazak and Governor Kwara state as well as Governors of Kogi, Bauchi, and Sokoto states.
