As the Ember months begin, motorists in Adamawa State have been urged to drive with extra caution to avoid the high rate of road traffic accidents that are typically associated with this period.

The Superintendent Road Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Abdulrahman Tukur noted that one of the major causes of traffic accidents during the Ember months is poor road conditions.
He emphasised the need for drivers to be careful while navigating such roads.
Alhaji Abdulrahman Turku advised that drivers should always inspect their vehicles to ensure they are in good condition before embarking on any journey, adding that early detection of issues can help prevent accidents.
He also urged motorists to exercise patience while driving, as impatience often leads to speeding and accidents.
Speaking on the same issue, the Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Adamawa State, Alhaji Umaru Mallam Baba, noted that the Ember months are typically very busy.
He stressed that drivers must be careful to avoid being pressured into accidents.
Alhaji Umaru Mallam Baba further pointed out that some passengers are in the habit of urging drivers to speed up so they can reach their destinations quickly, which increases the risk of accidents.
A motorist, Mallam Shettima Babayo, also shared his concerns, stating that some road users lack the proper knowledge of road usage.
He explained that driving is a sensitive responsibility, and drivers must adhere to traffic rules and regulations.
He advised drivers to avoid unnecessary overtaking and speeding, noting that such actions have caused many fatal accidents and led people to their early graves.
