The Federal Government says its ongoing infrastructure projects in Taraba State are opening up communities, improving connectivity, and creating opportunities for economic activities.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, stated this in Jalingo during activities marking the 35th anniversary of the creation of Taraba State.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, said the Federal Government’s interventions in the state reflected President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to inclusive development and stronger collaboration with state governments.
The Minister cited ongoing road projects, including the recently approved construction of the Jalingo-Numan Road, saying they were aimed at improving movement within Taraba and linking communities to other parts of the country.
Alhaji Idris pointed out that Taraba’s economic potential extends beyond its natural resources, noting that the state has opportunities in agriculture, agro-processing, livestock, tourism, energy, and manufacturing.
He described Taraba State, which was created on August 27, 1991, as a state blessed with fertile agricultural land, diverse cultures, natural resources, and tourist attractions.
In his remarks, Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State, called for continuity in governance, stressing that the development of Taraba should go beyond individual administrations and personalities.
The Governor described Taraba State as bigger than any individual and urged former leaders of the state to come together, share their experiences, and contribute ideas towards its continued development.
Highlights of the anniversary included the unveiling of the Taraba State Development Master Plan 2025-2050, Water Plan, and Taraba Unity Wrapper.
Goodwill messages were delivered by several dignitaries including the Director-General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Dr Mohammed Bulama.
