Taraba state Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas has received the National Sports Festival Torch of Unity from officials of the National Sports Commission ahead of the 2025 sport festival.
The Governor received the Tourch of Unity at the TY Danjuma House Jalingo in company of other government officials.
Speaking shortly after receiving the Touch, Governor Kefas commended the National Sports Council for journeying with the Torch of Unity across the country and for fostering unity through sports.
He assured the commission of his administration’s full support during the event and towards the development of sports in the state.
Earlier, Team Leader of the National Sport Commission Ikana Mbora, who presented the Touch to Governor Kefas, said President Tinubu had mandated the Commission to embark on a nationwide tour to present the Unity Torch to all states as a symbol of unity, create awareness and officially invite every state team for the games.
She noted that the 22nd edition of the National Sports Festival is scheduled take place in Abeokuta Ogun state from 16th-30th of next month, with over five thousand elite athletes and coaches expected to compete for medals in over thirty sports events.
