Comrade Usman Babbada,a renown Adamawa based unionist has been re-elected as the Chairman, Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria, Adamawa state Chapter.
Babbada alongside other officials re-emerged unopposed during the 7th Quadrennial Delegates Conference held in Yola the Adamawa state capital,except the position of State Trustee where election was conducted and Asabe Kades defeated her opponent Simon Gravity.
Other officials are; Vice-chairman,Ishaya Zira, Treasurer, Mohammed Inuwa,Lawan Abiya as Adviser and Jackson Gayus, Public Relations Officer.
The returning officer, Mohammed Adamu,who also represented the National President of the union,Kabiru Ado Manjibir commended the Delegates for making his assignment for conducting the election peacefully.
He said the transformation he has witnessed in Adamawa state was a clear manifestation of a flourishing democracy which was equally demonstrated by the leadership and members of Medical and Health Workers Union in the state.
The re-elected Chairman of MHWUN, Comrade Usman Babbada had earlier highlighted the feat he achieved to include; negotiation of CONHESS implementation from 74.86 percent to 78.6 (2019), facilitating National Housing Fund registration and enrollment of health workers across 21 local government areas (2020) so that members will benefit from programmes of mortgage Housing being a Federal government policy for all civil servants in the country.
Others include; collaboration with the Executive Chairman,ADSPHDCDA,Dr.Suleiman Bashir Saidu to securing the employment of 1,113 Health Workers across the 21 local government in (2021) and another set of 647 Health Workers (2022).
According to him,his leadership also facilitated the extension of Grade levels of Directors at ADSPHCDA across the 21 LGAs from G/L 15 to GL/16, facilitating 90 percent implementation of handy promotions at Health services Management Board amongst others.
He expressed appreciation to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for the N70,000 minimum wage implementation as well as the harmonious working relationship between workers and Government.
The Permanent Secretary, Administration, Office of the Head of Service,Mr.Oliver Gani who Represented the Head of Service assured of improved Health care facilities and welfare of health workers across the State.
The Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress,Adamawa state, Comrade Emmanuel Fashe, Chairman, Joint Public Negotiating Council, Bartholomew Nyalas, Permanent Secretary, Ministry for Local Government Affairs,Abbas Musa Kiri all commended the Babbada-led executives for giving priority to welfare of members, adding that the statutory appointments meant for seasoned civil servants should not be politized as spelt out in labour laws.
