To commemorate 2024 Children’s Day, wife of Adamawa State governor, Hajia Lami Ahmadu Fintiri, organized, a spelling Bee competition to enhance students education and skills development.
The office of the wife of the Adamawa State Governor, through her foundation Fresh Air Pro-Life Empowerment Foundation, deemed it necessary to play a vital role in celebrating the children on this special day dedicated to them.
The spelling bee competition took place at the banquet hall of the government house in Yola.
The competition was aimed at creating an avenue for children to gather and brainstorm on different spellings to enhance their knowledge in that aspect.
The Governor’s wife emphasized the need to engage children in a more productive way to better their lives for future development.
Hajiya Lami Fintiri pointed out the significance of Children’s Day celebration with various themes for enlightenment.
She urged children to always maintain good behavior towards their teachers, parents, and the nation for a better tomorrow.
The state Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Malam Umar Garba, appreciated the efforts of the Adamawa State First Lady for promoting education in the state.
The Principal of General Murtala Muhammed College Yola, Alhaji Musa Mohammed, who was at the event pledged to support the provision of quality education to the children with the collective participation of all teachers.
In a remark, the Adviser on Media and Communication of the Governor, Dr. John Ngamsa highlighted the vital roles spelling bee competitions play in shaping students’ education.
Dr. Ngamsa called on students to always strive to get things right for a prosperous future.
About twenty schools participated in the exercise, with Kings Standard Foundation scoring the first position, Government Day Secondary School Army Barracks in second place, and Federal Government Girls College Yola taking the third position.
The event featured the presentation of gifts to the best participating schools, cultural dances, and drama performances.
