INEC IN ADAMAWA STATE COMPLETES PREPARATIONS FOR SUPPLEMENRTARY ELECTIONS.

The Independent National electoral commission, INEC in Adamawa State said it has completed preparations for the re-run of gubernatorial and state constituency elections in the state.

This was made known by the state Resident Electoral Commissioner of INEC, Barrister Hudu Yunusa Ari during a supplementary stake holders’ meeting that took place at the commission’s headquarters in Yola, the Adamawa state capital.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Barrister Hudu Yunusa Ari said the meeting was one of its kind due to its peculiarity of issues deliberated on concerning the supplementary elections scheduled to hold on the 15th April, 2023 in the state.

Yunusa said it is imperative for the commission to continuously consult various stake holders with a view to updating them on its preparations towards ensuring a free, fair, credible and all-inclusive election.

According to him, in order to have a rancor-free exercise, each political party should have one agent representing it in each polling unit as stipulated by the electoral act.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner said governorship supplementary elections will hold in sixty one polling units across twenty local governments in the state, while state constituency elections will hold in four local government areas.

During the meeting, the Adamawa state police commissioner, CP Afolabi Adeniyi appreciated the efforts of the Resident Electoral Commissioner in preparation for the supplementary election.

Represented by ACP Shehu Umar Didango, Adeniyi said the Resident Electoral Commissioner had helped by clearing the air on issues arising as regard the ner of party agents per polling unit.

In his closing remarks, the admin secretary of INEC in the state, Malam Adamu Gujungu thanked all the state holders who attended the meeting, saying the interaction will go a long way in benefitting all.

Those present during the meeting were security agencies, political party representatives as well as persons living disabilities.
