2023 Nigeria Army games closes in Yola

The Annual Quarter Guard Inter Brigade Corporal and Below Competition of the Nigerian Army has closed on Thursday with the winners receiving trophies and accolades.

The closing ceremony of the competition that  had participants from 6 different brigades in the country held at the military cantonment Gibson Jalo in Yola.

The competition excercise hosted by the commander, 23 Brigade of the Nigerian Army Gibson Jalo Cantonment Brigadier  General MJ Gambo was carried out with the attendance of uniformed military personnel and the  participants dressed with their different units colors.

The competition which was in different races including Combat Race, Stripping and assembling of Riffles, Obstacles Crossing, Quartergard and other drills was conducted between 6 formations representing their brigades including 6 brigade from Jalingo, 23 brigade from Yola,  33 Artillery brigade from Bauchi, 43 Engineer Brigade From Jos Plateau, 52 Signal Brigade also from Jos, and 3Div garrisone brigade from Jos as well.

In his opening remarks at the closing of the 4 days competition of the annual quater-guard and below competition of the Nigerian Army, general commanding officer 3 division, Major general AB Ibrahim said the 3 division Inter brigade and corporal and below competition is part of series of  Nigerian Army training activities outlined for this year, with the objective to train the soldiers in combat and  physical fitness activities in oder to adequately prepare them  for the day to day operational task such as counter insurgencies and internal security challenges that they witness both inernal and external.

He added that the essence of the competition was to also improve regimentation, leadership qualities and physical fitness among troops.

The competition, wich spanned for 4 days, showcased the participants’ skills perfomances in combat swimming, navigation of map reading, shooting and weapon handling.

Announcing the result of the overall winners of the competition,  the chief umpire and the division training officer Brigadier general S Adamu, declared 43 Engineer brigade from Bauchi with the 5th position, 4th position goes to 33 artillery brigade, 3rd position goes to 53 signal brigade, 2nd position goes to 3Div garrison and the best overall winner of the this year’s competition goes to 23 brigade from Yola with the 1st position.

Earlier in his adress Special Guest of Honour, Adamawa State governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri represented by the Chief of Staff government house Yola, professor maxwell Gidado congratulated the winners of the competition and urged the soldiers to take advantage of the exercise and add to their experience.

Parades, drums beats as well as indivisual presentation of award to the deserving winners of vaarious formations sadded colour to the event.

There was also the attendance of Personnel of the Nigerian Customs Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, National Drugs Law Enforcenment Angency NDLEA among other Senior Military and Paramilitary officers.
