NEDC Distributes Fertilisers to Gombe Farmers for 2026 Wet Season Farming

By

Jamilu Abubakar

The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has launched the distribution of fertilisers to farmers in Gombe State as part of efforts to support agricultural production during the 2026 rainy season.

Speaking at the Commission’s warehouse in Gombe during the launch of the distribution, the Gombe State Coordinator of the NEDC, Architect Usman Muhammad, said the intervention was aimed at enhancing food security and improving the livelihoods of farmers across the state.

He explained that one of the Commission’s core mandates is to promote food security and reduce youth restiveness through economic empowerment, noting that increased agricultural productivity would also contribute to improved security in the North-East region.

Architect Usman Muhammad stated that the Commission has continued to provide farmers with fertilisers and other farming implements as part of its broader efforts to revive economic activities in the North-East, which was severely affected by years of insurgency.

He urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the fertilisers to maximise crop yields during the current farming season.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Usman Abubakar commended the North East Development Commission for the timely distribution of the fertilisers, describing the intervention as a significant boost to farming activities.

He assured the Commission that the farmers would use the fertilisers on their farms to increase food production and contribute to strengthening food security in Gombe State and across Nigeria.
