Dangote Sugar refinery Numan has flagged off 2.5 million naira empowerment program for women Farmers from its host communities.
In his remarks during the event which took place at the company’s premises, Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri appreciated the Dangote Sugar Refinery for recognizing women in its empowerment programs.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri who was represented by the commissioner of women affairs, Neido Geoffrey Kofulto said women are known to be resilient and committed to whatever task assigned to them , hence the recognition by the Dangote Sugar Refinery to empower the gender tremendously.
The governor advised the women to use the money for the intending purpose so that it can yield result and open door for more beneficiaries.
Fintiri thanked the traditional rulers of the host communities for supporting the company in its operations and programs to the people.
In his speech, the Chief Executive of Dangote Sugar refinery Numan , Chinanya Sylvain commended the organizers of the empowerment program, stressing that the program will further strengthen the capacity of the womenfolk, assuring that the company will always ensure inclusion of women in all it programs.
Also speaking during the event, the Head of corporate communications of Dangote groups, Ngozi Ngena said the company will monitor their progress, give more support as there is a team of experts who will always be on ground to help the women whenever there is any challenge.
Also, the Community Relations Manager of the company, Daniel Andrew said the women empowerment program is aimed at supporting women farmers in the host communities so that they too will be involved in the activities of the company and equally contribute to the development of the communities.
In their separate goodwill messages, the Hama Bachama represented by district head of Wayam, Chief Phineas George, Representative of the farming committee of the traditional council, Felicia Nzomisaki and other traditional leaders appreciated the efforts of Dangote Group to the people of the host communities and assured that the gesture will not be regretted.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries , Clara Maxwell said they will surely use the funds for the intending purpose which is farming.
They thanked Dangote Sugar Refinery for the empowerment program as they prayed for the sustenance and successes of the company as it continues its operations in that area and all other areas.
Fifty women , ten each from Demsa, Guyuk, Lamurde, Shelleng and Numan local government areas received fifty thousand Naira each in the empowerment program.
