In recognition of her outstanding performance and service to humanity, the Batta Traditional Council has conferred a Chieftaincy title “Rutu Bata” on the Deputy Governor of Adamawa State, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta.
The ceremony which also saw the conferment of other Chieftaincy titles on twenty Eight other illustrious sons, daughters and friends of Batta Chiefdom, took place at the Hama Bata’ palace in Demsa town of Adamawa state.
Speaking at the event, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri commended traditional leaders for maintaining peace in their domains, advising them to encourage dry season farming amongst their people, stressing that government is poised towards ensuring food security in the state.
Represented by his Deputy and the newly installed “Rutu Batta”, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, the Governor whose son was also awarded the title of ” Kurmo Batta “, meaning the shield of Batta Kingdom, revealed that government will continue to propel Adamawa to greatness through its people oriented policies and programs, noting that it will keep investing in key sectors such as education, health, Agriculture among other spheres of human endeavor.
While warning against unnecessary sells of farm produce, the governor drew the attention of the newly conferred title holders to the need to reciprocate the gesture by promoting peace, unity and development of Batta Kingdom, Adamawa and Nigeria in general.
The Hama Bata Homun Alhamdu Gladstone Teneke, after the conferment of the titles said the recognition of the deserving personalities for the traditional titles cut across Young and old, stressing that it is a deliberate attempt to raise responsible generation of men and women, and by extension, cement relationship, mutual trust, understanding and peaceful coexistence among family and friends of Batta Chiefdom.
He revealed that the conferment is in recognition of their contributions to peace and development of the Kingdom and to also maintain the cultural existence of Batta people.
Homun Teneke encouraged them to remain the good ambassadors of Batta chiefdom, reminding them that their recognition is a call to service.
The paramount ruler acknowledged the effort and contributions of Governor Fintiri to peaceful coexistence and development of Batta land, challenging the Youths to hold onto the culture of being deligent, honest, accountable and respectful towards elders.
Chief Joel Madaki on behalf of the celebrants appreciated Batta traditional council for the recognition, saying the honour is a challenge for them to do more for the betterment of Batta kingdom.
Among other personalities conferred with Batta traditional titles include; Chief Joel Madaki as Nzomurokake Batta, the immediate past speaker of Adamawa state Assembly, Senator Aminu Iya Abbas as Turmo Batta, Adamu Atiku Abubakar, Fyemi Batta, chief Joan Haggai Sahma, Nzonjiya Batta, Aminu Aliyu Ismaila, Madaki Batta, and Barrister Mary Tufano Eche.
Others are Chief Niwesa George Kushi as Pipito Batta, Comrade Ladi Bala, Nzubyalata Hama Batta, Chief Chibuike John Okeke as Pikumo Batta, meaning the Unifier, Mohammadu Souley as Zumbudo Batta, chief Barnabas Galadima Pata, Ngra Batta and Princess Nyisom Tafisu Swade Core as Nzomtu Batta among others.
Meanwhile Deputy Governor professor Kaletapwa Farauta was among prominent personalities that graced the wedding reception between Sunday Ayu and Femato Fenny Fwa at Concordia College Jimeta-Yola.
Professor Kaletapwa Farauta who joined in the celebration of love between Sunday Ayu and Femato Fenny Fwa advised them to build their marriage on Christ.
