Adamawa state governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has called on the United Nations and other development partners to provide quality shelter for the internally displaced persons in the state.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri made the call when he granted audience to the special adviser to the United Nations secretary general on solutions to internally displacement, Mr. Williams Chemale at the government house, Yola.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fnintiri said, the United Nations should consider providing more better and durable houses for the internally displaced persons.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri said going further, the state government will see how it will collaborate with the development partners to ensure better, durable and quality houses than the ones that were destroyed fifteen years ago.
According to the governor, having this kind of meeting with them now after their last meeting two months ago indicated their seriousness as partners and the government is ready to give them the needed support.
He added that the state government despite its series of priorities was able to provide the needed healthcare and education for the affected people across their camps in the state.
The governor thanked the united Nations for its continued partnership in the area of humanitarian services.
He added that the state is worst hit by challenges of post insurgency, hence the need for more support.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Mr. Williams Chemaly said the team was in the state as part of its mission to provide more humanitarian assistance to millions of displaced persons in the northeast.
He solicited more supports from the state government, adding that the UN will provide more aid in the area of shelter and other lively hood support to internally displaced persons in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states.
