Adamawa state residents express joy as state government rolls out services of palliative buses.

Residents of Yola, the Adamawa state capital have expressed delight as the state government rolled out the services of luxurious buses procured in its efforts to ease transportation difficulties within the state capital and its immediate communities as a result of the fuel subsidy removal by the federal government.

 

The residents who spoke to newsmen said what the state government did will help reduce difficulties in moving around the state capital and its environs.

 

Some passengers, Usman Salihu and Aliyu Abubakar appreciated the state government for the buses, saying with the introduction of the buses transportation cost will surely be cut down reasonably.

 

He appreciated the government and prayed for the sustenance of the bus services.

 

Another passenger said the commencement of the buses operations, had actually cleared his doubt from insinuations that the government will not actualize it, but now it has been proven.

 

While appreciating the governor for his determination to bring succor to the people of the state, they equally called on those saddled with the responsibilities of operation, maintenance and supervision, especially the drivers to ensure the sustainability of the bus services for the benefit of the people of the state.

 

They equally called on the state government to come up with more measures that would help the people of the state during this period of hardship.

 

Explaining its operations, one if the revenue collector of the buses, Mohammed Auwal Ahmed said the buses charged one hundred naira per drop and receipt was issued indicating both take off and destination points.

 

A driver of one of the buses plying jimeta to yola town route, Salihu Sajoh stated that the passengers were excited with the arrival of the buses, saying there were no complains since the commencement of the transport service.

 

The buses which would be shuttling between yola town to Jimeta, to Sangere futy, Mubi round about to sangere welcome to yola axis will charge only one hundred naira per drop per passenger with stop over points around the state capital and its immediate neighboring communities.

 

In its effort to help cushion the hardship occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy by the federal government, the fintiri led administration came up with measures among which is the procurement of ten brand new luxurious buses at the cost of one billion, sixty million naira from innoson motors in order to ease transportation difficulties for both the civil servants and the people of the state.
