Adamawa state government has banned the burning of trees in the state in the name of producing charcoal.
This was made known by the state governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri when he received royal fathers across the state who paid him Sallah homage at the banquet hall, government house yola.
Governor Fintiri said there is need to preserve the environment, hence the need for the ban.
He said the second tenure is going to be full of developmental strides as evidently displayed in the selection of members of his cabinet.
Governor Fintiri added that his administration will ensure security of the state.
He also called on the traditional rulers to take charge of the security of their communities, saying without peace and development, the state cannot flourish.
Leading the delegation of the traditional rulers, the Lamido of Adamawa, Doctor Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu thanked the Governor for resuming the age long tradition of paying homage which was suspended as a result of restrictions by Covid 19 protocols.
The Lamido of Adamawa, who was represented by the Waziri Adamawa, and former Vice President of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar said the visit is a reaffirmation of loyalty and support to the governor as he steers the affairs of the state.
He therefore thanked the Governor for the audience granted and urged him to continue with the good work he started during his first tenure.
