The Adamawa State government has approved over two billion naira for the supply and installation of transmitters to boost operations of the state own Radio station.
The Commissioner for information and strategy, Neido Geoffrey Kofulto made this known while speaking to newsmen shortly after the fifth executive council meeting chaired by the state governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri at the council chambers, government house Yola.
Neido Geoffrey Kofulto stated that the council has approved for the supply and installation of two 50am transmitters, two 10kw FM transmitters at Mbamba booster station and four studios for the Adamawa Broadcasting Corporation, ABC.
The commissioner explained that with the AM and FM transmitting in the state, information on government policies and other developmental projects will easily and effectively reach the grassroots.
The commissioner also revealed that the council has approved the sum of one billion, nine hundred and two million, nine hundred and eighty two thousand, nine hundred and six naira and seven Kobo for the renovation of high court “A”, and four hundred and ninety four million, eight hundred and twenty five thousand, one hundred and forty naira, eighty nine Kobo for the renovation of High court “B” and the contract was awarded to mesr. Gombali Global Nigeria limited.
The commissioner added that during the fifth executive council meeting, the EXCOS deliberated on a health alert on the outbreak of measles and the flash of polio.
While advising the people of Adamawa state especially the elderly to stay indoors in order to avoid effect of the sun, the council equally advised on the need to drink water frequently.
Shortly before the commencement of the executive council meeting, governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has sworn in the new commissioner of Transport Hammajumba Gatugel , to replace Musa Mahmud Kallamu who was now elected to the state assembly and Justina Obadiah Nkom as Special Adviser.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri congratulated the newly sworn in commissioner and the Special Adviser and employed them to come along with their wealth of experience and discharge their duties diligently in line with the administration’s agenda so as to move the state forward.
The oath of office was administered by the commissioner for justice and Attorney General of the state, Barrister Afraimu Jingi.
