Youths in Adamawa State have been encouraged to embrace continuous learning, develop entrepreneurial mindsets, acquire digital and technical skills, and remain resilient in the face of societal challenges.
The Commissioner for Entrepreneurship Development, Hammajumba Gatugel, gave the advice during the 2026 World Youth Skills Day celebration held in Yola.

said this year’s theme, “Skills for a Shared Future,” underscores the need for collective efforts to ensure every young person has the opportunity to realise their full potential and contribute to sustainable development, peace, prosperity and inclusive economic growth.
Represented by Mallam Ibrahim Usman, the commissioner said the revitalisation of skills acquisition centres, support for entrepreneurship development, expansion of innovation programmes and youth empowerment initiatives demonstrate the government’s commitment to preparing young people for a competitive and rapidly changing global economy.
Gatugel noted that the ministry’s intervention programmes continue to provide opportunities for youths and women to acquire practical skills, establish businesses, create employment and contribute meaningfully to the economic transformation of Adamawa State.
Also speaking, the Adamawa State Coordinator of Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria, SMEDAN, Mustapha Gana, and the resource person, Mallam Sadiq Salisu, urged young people to embrace lifelong learning, noting that artificial intelligence, digital transformation, renewable energy and other emerging industries are reshaping the future of work.
Some of the participants who spoke to Radio Nigeria described the programme as timely and impactful.
The event featured an exhibition of products including shoes, stoves and other locally made items.
